Football Jerseys - an Analogy

Professional football players work extremely hard to earn the jerseys they wear.

The effort they put into their profession is equivalent to focus and dedication required for success in any field, business or market.

The indications of success, whether it is the right to wear a professional football uniform, to see your name on a store front or large office building, or to enjoy the financial rewards of your work are earned.

You can’t buy success.

Buying a football jersey is arguably an effort to buy into the success of a player or organization. To enjoy the prestige of being a member of the team. But wearing the shirt doesn’t mean anything without the work that goes into earning it.

Many people want the material symbols of success, but fail to appreciate the work required. They can buy the symbol, even if they don’t have enough money, with credit. So they think they look successful, when all they have done is fallen further into debt, and missed the point.

The signs of success must be earned.

And, although I respect the athletes that play professional sports, I think the whole business is quite silly. It just makes a good example of an indication of success.
