We’ve had a lot of snow lately.
There are about 18 inches on the ground, and it is very nice snow. Fluffy, light, and very slidable.
Our driveway has an excellent slope, augmented with fine snowbanks at the top.
The driveway had 1 inch of ice, and a varying amount of snow on it, packed.
Gretchen and I chose the highest snowbank and sat upon it, in cheap plastic sleds. We slid down, across the driveway, and into some small brush. Again and again. Clearly the design was flawed, and snow was added to protect the small brush from the sled, and us from the small brush. This worked better, and we slid into more small brush. When we didn’t flip over.
The next day was just as wonderful. I put a lot of snow on the side of the driveway with the brush. Then, I put more. Took some of the snow off the sides to fill in parts of the driveway that weren’t covered with ice or snow.
It is abundantly clear that the snow will be with us for a long time. The only appropriate action is to enjoy it.
Sure hope the oil truck has chains …
