Today, we made lunch bags, with matching cloth napkins. I have alot of extra fabric, and had a little extra time.
The bags were roughly the size of a bread bag (for a loaf of bread). Sometimes the selvage served as the hem, sometimes a real hem was used. A narrow hem foot was used to hem the napkins, casually :).
The most important advantages of these bags and napkins is that they are reusable, washable, and colorful. Most conventional lunch boxes are foam, fabric, and vinyl, with zippers. These are difficult to keep clean, bulky, and expensive.
