My house is blessed with kitchen fairies.
As we sleep, the kitchen fairies collect all the dirty dishes, even if they aren’t in the kitchen and place them in the dishwasher. The fairies wipe down the counters and the tables, sweep the floor, and put out the recycling.
I’ve never seen the kitchen fairies, but I know they exist.
Occasionally, the kids help the kitchen fairies. The kids always say the fairies didn’t do anything, but I know that’s not true. The conversation usually goes like this:
Mom: I’m going outdoors to ( snowblow / cut the grass / rake ) choose one or make one up - would you kids help the kitchen fairies clean up the kitchen?
Kids: Do we have to?
Mom: You could ( shovel / trim / rake ) choose corresponding instead.
Kids: Okay … growling …
Mom: Thank you
Later, when I return, the kitchen always looks great.
The kids say they did all the work, but I know it’s the fairies.
