This unlikely pair may be very helpful if you have the flu.
For all those days when you can’t eat anything, drink lots of fluid. Water is best. When you finally start to be able to eat, start with egg nog and apple pie.
Egg nog is full of fat and sugar and it tastes good. It’s a great way to get reasonably nutritious calories without drinking very much. Read the nutrition label! :) There may be some protien, too.
Everyone knows apples are good for you. Cinnamon is also good for you. Soak them in sugar and wrap them in pastry. It is easy to eat, tastes great, has some fiber, and is festive. Decorate with your favorite topping, or even better, ice cream.
Condensed soup doesn’t actually have to be diluted. Apparently it tastes better if you don’t add water. In addition, it fits into a single coffee mug - easily warmed in the microwave.
Medicine doesn’t seem to help for an uncomplicated flu - so don’t bother. Wrap yourself in a blanket, with a cat, and a book, on the couch … for 7 to 10 days.
As Auntie used to say, “enjoy a good sickness". She was referring to allowing yourself some quiet time to recover, not the discomfort of being sick.
