I love to write software. Particularly PHP. You can’t have fun writing code without alot of ideas and I have tons!.
My latest idea involves color mapping. I’m not sharing it yet, because I’m not done, but it is coming along nicely. The first part - how to describe colors numerically so they can use used for analysis and assignment is pretty much done.
But that’s not what I’m describing.
I came up with the color mapping idea last week. I think. It started with a file scan and some regular expressions, and it became clear the approach was possible. Yesterday, I did the encoding described above and today I started on some file access routines. It gets worked on about 1 hour at a time.
In between, I ponder it. I ponder at the supermarket, as I’m driving, I ponder while I do the dishes or vacuum. I ponder as I walk the dog, in fact, I have long technical discussions with him.
… and then … when I have a few more minutes … I take those ideas and make them happen. A little bit at a time.
I’ve built some amazing things this way. I’m not sure they would have been successful if I had tried to sit down and solve the problems in a more traditional way. I had a work from home job, and this approach allowed me to do great things.
I do have a “real” job, where I sit and focus, in the office, for 6 hours. I love that, too, because then, as the ideas are flowing, I can bring them to life.
It’s all good. :)
